Customs and Border Protection
Australia is a safe and friendly country and welcomes visitors arriving by yacht.
All vessels arriving from an overseas destination or those which have come in contact with international vessels must enter Australia through a designated first port and require inspection from a biosecurity officer.
Designated small craft Ports of Entry can be found on the Australian Government Border Protection website.
The nearest small craft point of entry to Scarborough Marina is Brisbane. Scarborough Marina is located approximately 12 nautical miles from the mouth of Brisbane River across Moreton Bay.

Scarborough Marina is only 25 minutes’ drive from Brisbane International Airport.
Banking
All the major banks and most minor banks are available in Redcliffe. Currency exchanges can be organised directly at the banks.

Cycling
There are numerous bicycle trails on the Redcliffe Peninsula. A bikeways trail map is put out by the Moreton Bay Regional Council and is available here.
Emergencies
The Australian emergency service (police, ambulance, fire) can be accessed by calling “000”. VHF 16 is monitored for emergency calls on the water.
Hardstand and Haulout
Scarborough Marina has a full-service boatyard with a 35tonne Marine Travelift facility and an extensively equipped onsite Chandlery. Our onsite tenants include shipwright, mechanical, trimmer and other services. Other mobile services can be organised through the Marina Office. We also provide a lift and hold inspection service for a quick hull clean and inspection.
Hire Car
Hire cars can be organised by the Marina Office and can be arranged to be picked up at the marina.
Insurance
You will need to show confirmation of your vessel’s current insurance both at Scarborough Marina and at other Australian marinas during your stay.
Internet
A large range of mobile internet plans and options to suit your needs are available through dealers at the nearby major shopping centre.
Laundry
Scarborough Marina has a 24 hour onsite laundry.
Live-Aboard
Subject to Marina Manager confirmation, visiting cruisers are welcome to live aboard their vessels during their stay at Scarborough Marina. Our live-aboard facilities are maintained to a high standard.
You may have your mail directed care of Scarborough Marina at our mailing address. Our Marina Office will hold your mail with your instructions.
Power
Australian power is 240V 50Hz.
Public Transport
The nearby Kipparing train station connects to the Brisbane and Gold Coast suburban train network. The Redcliffe bus service is also available adjacent to the marina and travels throughout the Peninsula.
Storing Your Vessel
You can confidently leave your vessel at the marina while you tour widely or make a return visit to your home, knowing it will be safe and secure.
Selling Your Vessel
Overseas registered vessels will need to be imported into Australia before it can be sold. This is not a complex process and can be organised through our onsite broker’s office. Contact the Marina Office and we will put you in touch with the relevant persons.
Time Zone
Queensland operates on the Australian Eastern Standard Time Zone (EST). Queensland does not observe daylight saving. NSW and Victoria do observe daylight saving time. This means that Queensland is 1 hour behind the Southern States for a part of the year.
